Dachshund Dan arrived as an unclaimed stray. He was very scared on arrival and took some time to trust. Dan is a only a young boy, he approximately a year old.
Dan soon showed us that he is auctally a confident and loving boy. He has taken time to get to know his new carer’s and surroundings.
Dan would probably benefit from a canine friend who can teach him about the world outside. He seems to like being in the presence of other dogs. We feel he would probably prefer a calm friend who is neutered. Dan has spent time in the office with the staff, he was very good, however he did show slight signs of stress when he was left. we feel he would prefer a home with adults around most of the time. Dan is a partially crate trained, continuing his training with this and confidence building is definitely going to be beneficial.
Dan is awaiting surgery on his front leg which he is unable to use.
Having 3 legs will come easy to him as he so used to it. He is not able to walk for miles but he is able to do multiple short walks to keep him fit and healthy. Dan will need to be kept slim, to much pressure on his joints will cause heath issues.
He will require abit of extra care and maintenance in his older years with walking.
Dan is an active little fella, he does enjoy a good sniff and people watching. He is still working hard at meeting new people and exploring unfamiliar places.
Dan just needs the chance to live his life with humans who will go at his pace, ones who will provide him with a safe and loving home.
