Gorgeous George is a two-year-old saluki-lurcher who came to us after being handed in at a local vets. Poor George was severely malnourished upon arrival and had huge pressure sores from where he had likely been crated for a long time. He looked so much older than two years due to the neglect he had been through. Understandably George was quite distrustful of people upon arrival as he clearly hasn’t been able to rely on people in the past. However after a few days helping out in the office he has started to bond with the staff and his playful puppy side has started to show. George really is just a big baby and will make an amazing dog when he’s found the right people.
George is still wary of strangers and people surprising him when he doesn’t expect it. He will need an adult-only home because of this as he does still spook easily. His new owners will need to dedicate time to rebuilding his confidence and be aware that he won’t be a pub dog who can go everywhere with them for a while. George is very repsonsive to food and training will surely be a breeze for committed owners. He shows good manners passing other dogs and may do well with another confident dog in the household. George has passed a cat-test at the centre but being a sighthound still has the instinct to chase. Applicants must be aware of this and be prepared to separate him from any resident cats if he becomes too interested!
