This is Sweetie pie (British Bulldog) she was found as a stray by a very concerned member of public-who found her in their back garden hiding in an old settee.
She was extremely afraid and frighted and wouldn’t let the finder anywhere near her.
They (finder) phoned our Dog Warden who went out to collect her as quickly as they could and on collection it was apparent that she needed vet care.
She was underweight, had bad skin and it seems that this poor girl had churned out litter after litter, she also has cherry eye( which the Vet said that it was one of the worst cases he’d ever seen) this is in both eyes and will require surgery and she is currently awaiting a date for the operation.
She was scanned for a microchip by our dog warden – but no chip was found -so we were unable to trace the owner(s) or former owner(s) for more information of who could of abandoned this poor girl and leave her in the poor condition that she was found in.
It’s been a few weeks now since this sweet girl came in to Cardiff Dogs’ Home and she is now thriving.
She has been put on a healthy diet, as a result has gained weight , her skin has greatly improved, and with the love and care of staff and volunteers she has learned to trust again. She’s had a poor start but is now looking for her happy ever after.
She gets worried in the presence of other dogs’ – we feel that this is because she has been over breed and her only experiences with other dogs’ would’ve been traumatic for her – so we are looking for her to be the only pet in the household. She would be suitable in a quite family home with calm older children and experience with the British Bulldog breed would be preferred.
