Introducing our very own Mr Blobby. This little (or not so little ) Dachshund is around 8-9 months old and arrived in our care as an unclaimed stray however, he is now ready to find his forever home.
On arrival Blobby weighed in at a staggering 13.8 kilograms which classes him as morbidly obese. Allowing a dog of his age and breed to gain this amount of weight due to lack of exercise and excessive feeding is completely unacceptable and neglectful. It can cause discomfort, a number of problematic health conditions and can shorten their life expectancy.
Despite this, Mr Blobby is an extremely loving boy with a quirky personality who loves cuddles with his trusted people and going on strolls with his new volunteer friends.
He’s playful and enjoys a game of fetch and tug in the garden and also likes the company of other dogs however, he is working on his over excitement and manners around them as he is only young and still learning.
We are sure he would be a great adventure buddy for someone once he has lost some weight.
He is now on a strict diet and is allowed short but often bursts of exercise to ensure he doesn’t cause any extra strain to his joints.
This being the case, Blobby would be best suited to an active family with people who have good knowledge or breed experience who will be committed to his new diet and exercise plan to assist him in his weight loss journey.
He would also benefit from being enrolled onto training classes to help teach him basic obedience and life skills so that he grows into a confident and well balanced dog.
Blobby could potentially live with calm children 5+, resident neutered dogs and dog savvy cats. This will all be based on controlled introductions here at the centre.
