Frenchie the lurcher has sadly been returned to us at the centre. Unfortunately, sometimes placements don’t work out. She was very loved and had a lovely time with her family, but it simply wasn’t meant to be.
Frenchie is approximately 3 years old and is still a shy girl at heart. She may take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate personality begins to shine through. She lacks confidence in the outside world and will need a calm, patient home that can help her build this slowly and at her own pace.
When Frenchie first came into our care, she was kennelled alongside a spaniel and coped well with shared space. She has also spent time in a quiet foster home, where she proved herself to be the perfect house guest — settled, gentle, and respectful in a home environment.
As a lurcher (sighthound), Frenchie naturally has a prey drive. Her new owners will need to understand her breed traits and help channel her instincts in positive ways, such as structured games or dog sports like agility or similar activities. This will allow her to use both her brain and her body — chasing her dreams around the course as she was born to do.
Frenchie is an incredibly loyal and loving girl. Once bonded, she will happily follow you around the house to make sure she isn’t missing out on any daily activities — whether that’s working from home or keeping a close eye on the snack cupboard.
She would love a secure garden where she can enjoy zoomies and then relax in the sun with her family. Frenchie would also greatly benefit from access to a large, secure enclosed dog field once or twice a week, giving her the chance to stretch her long legs, run off steam, and enjoy a proper sighthound sprint.
Frenchie can be strong on the lead, but with consistent training classes and owners willing to learn alongside her, she will continue to improve and settle into her routines.
All introductions will take place at the centre, and we would be happy to introduce her to any resident dogs, who could offer companionship and play once suitable matches are confirmed.
Frenchie is a sensitive, loyal soul who just needs the right home to help her feel safe, confident, and truly settled.
