Mr Red
Unfortunately our handsome boy Mr Red has been returned into our care after living in a home for around 6 months. This was through no fault of his own & due to a change in living circumstances.
Mr Red is a Belgian Mallinois & is around 3 years old. Although he loves his big adventures and walks he is not typical of the breed and is a very chillaxed boy! Red is very smart and already knows many tricks , he is such a well mannered dog that is housetrained , good with adults & children and has lived with a cat before .
Due to the nature of his breed he would love to take up something like obedience/agility or scentwork to keep his brain busy and fulfilled . He loves going on long hikes with our volunteers and will stare into your eyes lovingly (in hopes of a treat😆) Our volunteers have called him “the perfect gentleman” and he walks very well on the lead. His favourite games are tug & football!
In his previous home Mr Red showed some signs of seperatjon anxiety to one person, he is very handler focused and is likely to get attached so his new owners will need to be around a lot of the time to continue to work on this with him. It was also mentioned that he can resource guard his food, we have not seen this in the kennel environment however this is something to be mindful of and will need to be managed by feeding him separately and allowing him space whilst he eats. Due to this we would only place him with children 14+ that are dog savvy and will give him his space – He could benefit from some training classes if these issues do arise & to brush up on some skills .
Red could also potentially live with another dog & cats depending on intros done at the centre.
Feeding times will have to managed as Mr Red will not want to share his food. He will require training in this area.
