Gorgeous George is a handsome 6-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux who has recently arrived into our care following neglect from his previous owner. He has been through a lot, but George is now ready to look forward to a much brighter future filled with love, care, good food and all the comforts he deserves.
George is a real sweetheart who just needs a little extra love, patience and understanding while he settles into his new life. He has already spent some time in foster and has proved himself to be the perfect house guest. He loves the comforts of home, enjoys a gentle potter, a good snooze and, of course, drinking straight from the hose! He really is happiest enjoying the simple things in life.
George is very food-motivated and his meals are carefully managed. He is currently on a gastrointestinal diet to support his digestion and help maintain a healthy weight. He is fed little and often using a raised feeder, which works really well for him and allows him plenty of time to digest his meals comfortably.
George absolutely adores his walks and loves getting out to explore. As you might expect from a big Dogue de Bordeaux, he can be strong on the lead, particularly when he picks up an interesting scent. Having missed out on some important social learning in his previous life, George may benefit from some positive dog training to help build his confidence and continue developing his lead manners and appropriate behaviours.
George can be a sensitive soul and will need owners who understand that he may take time to settle and build trust. In return, he has so much love to give. He is a big, slobbery boy with an enormous heart, a love of food and a gentle, affectionate nature.
George would be best suited to a calm and relaxed home where he can finally feel safe and enjoy the quieter life he deserves. Knowledge and experience of the Dogue de Bordeaux breed is essential, as George is a large and powerful boy who will need committed owners who understand the breed and are prepared to meet all of his needs.
George will require multiple introductions at the centre to give him the time he needs to build a bond with his new family and get to know them at his own pace.
After everything George has been through, he deserves nothing less than the very best life — a loving family, a comfy bed, plenty of affection, good food, gentle adventures and lots of opportunities for those all-important snoozes.
