Welcome to the hotel — our newest resident, Queenie, a beautiful mature English Bull Terrier, who arrived in our care after being found as a stray and is now ready to find her forever home.
It was alleged that she was involved in an altercation with another dog, which led to her being brought to us for assessment and safety. After assessment, Queenie was found to have a very loving nature, showing just how affectionate and gentle she can be once she feels comfortable.
Since being with us, Queenie has been nothing but a delight. She has taken kennel life in her stride and has quickly become a firm favourite among her carers.
Despite being mature in age, Queenie still has plenty of zest for life. She is an independent girl who is happy having her own space, appreciating companionship on her own terms and happily settling nearby once she’s had her fill of fuss. When playtime arrives, she gets so excited that she often bursts into joyful zoomies — she will even empty the toy box to find her favourite toy and play with it for ages. She is an all-round happy, beautiful girl with a huge personality to match.
Queenie is a big fan of snoozing and will burrow under her blankets when she ready to catch some zzz.
Queenie can sometimes be wary of unfamiliar people and may bark at them initially. However, this behaviour can be managed and improved with positive, reward-based training to help build her confidence and trust. She is responding very well to her lead walking training using these positive methods, and continues to learn quickly.
Because of this, we feel Queenie would be best suited to an active, adult-only, child- and pet-free home with people who have experience with English Bull Terriers. Her new owners will need to be patient and understanding, allowing Queenie to build trust at her own pace and respecting her need for personal space.
Her future family will also need to enrol her in obedience classes and remain committed and consistent with her ongoing lead-manners training. Queenie can become over-excitable during play, so she will benefit from learning how to settle and switch off as part of her training journey.
Queenie would no doubt thrive with obedience training and potentially a suitable dog sport, helping to channel her energy while fulfilling her breed’s natural instincts and needs.
Queenie will make someone an incredible companion. She deserves a life filled with comfort, structure, and plenty of adventures. She is a must for any English Bull Terrier lover!
