Obi is approximately 8 months old and arrived in our care as a “fake stray”, meaning he was sadly dumped by his previous owners.
We believe Obi is a Chongqing dog, which is a very rare breed to see in rescue. Because of this, we are committed to finding him the perfect forever home that truly understands his needs.
Obi is young, playful, and full of energy. As Obi is young he will use mouth when playing, leading to grabbing clothes and snatching. While he is not typically a cuddly breed, he does enjoy a fuss on his own terms and has a naturally independent nature.
Training classes are essential, along with consistent training throughout his life. We already have a specific type of home in mind, and potential adopters will be expected to thoroughly research the breed to ensure they can meet his needs to a high standard.
Obi will not be suitable for first time dog owners. This breed does not cope well in cold environments, so this must be carefully considered.
Obi deserves the very best life after being let down by humans. As a breed, Chongqing dogs are naturally protective and can be wary of strangers. They require structured handling and ongoing socialisation.
He will need plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation. He has a strong prey drive and would suit an active home that enjoys activities such as hiking or jogging. He is not suited to a sedentary lifestyle.
Potential adopters should also be aware that skin allergies can occur in this breed, so financial stability is important to ensure any medical needs can be met.
Committed, knowledgeable homes only.
