Please say a gentle hello to our gorgeous meatball of a lad, Branston (formerly known as Kevin)
Unfortunately Branston has brought back into our care and has spent some time settling back into kennel life and is now looking for a home to call his own forever. Branston is such a sweet and sensitive boy, he likes to go for long plods with the volunteers and takes his role as chief sniffing inspector very seriously . This lad would do anything and everything for a treat and is a wonderful poser for the camera! Kevin likes to ‘stop , drop and roll’ out on his walks and give a show to anyone walking by !
Branston can be a little worried at times especially if you approach him too quickly. Motorbikes are his arch nemesis as they are big loud and scary and he can sometimes cower away or give off a bark to show his worry. Kevin is good with other dogs and is very chill around them most of the time , but he is a bull breed and typically plays like one too, we believe he would be best suited to a pet free home but with regular doggie pals outside of the home. He is fine being left alone for longer periods of time so wouldn’t mind living with people that aren’t around all the time. Branston travels fairly well in a car but doesn’t like bumpy or windy rides !
Branston was unfortunately returned due to him displaying some behaviours which are believed to be due to a mix of OCD, stress and a bit of anxiety . The behaviours were being worked on and improving but ultimately the household environment wasn’t able to support what he needed. He was fixating on the doors in the household and would jump and grab at the handles and frame and would also jump and nip people that picked things up in the house. He has never marked skin. Branston is currently on anti anxiety medication to help him with his big feelings and we are continuing to monitor this.
However this behaviour was never seen in the kennel previously and has not been seen in the kennels this time around either. This is not to say it won’t happen, we would like Branston to go to a bull breed experienced home who are well knowledgeable. He will be going on a foster period before the rehome is done . Branston is looking for a child free home but could potentially live with other dogs and cats depending introductions done at the centre .
