Darling Dutchess is the new star of the Rescue Hotel as mum to her nine puppies. She and her pups were brought to us after the unfortunate passing of her owner and she is now whelping her pups with us. Dutchess has had a hard time the last few weeks but is soldiering on through the last stretch with her puppies. She’s an amazing mother and deserves the best home once her pups have moved on. We don’t want everyone to forget about Mum in all the excitement of puppies!
Dutchess came to us in quite a sorry state, underweight and with sore skin. She is putting on weight well but understandably is struggling to maintain it as she is still feeding nine pups. Her skin has improved as well with medicated baths and flea and worm treatment, but she still has a while to go to get back in top shape. Once she is ready to leave her pups, she will go to her new home on medical foster until our vet signs her off.
Dutchess is around four years old and is naturally a bouncy girl as a Dalmatian. She would do well in an active household and would make a great running buddy. She does struggle to settle down in new environments and would prefer her new humans to be with her most of the time until she has found her feet. She may be able to live with other neutered dogs of similar energy. All introductions will be done at the centre and we will arrange for her to go home after her pups have gone.
